Who Determines When I am Eligible for Long Term Care Benefits?

Under a tax-qualified long term care insurance policy, a licensed health care practitioner must certify that you are chronically ill and that a Plan of Care, including the qualified long term care services you need, is in place for you. Being chronically ill means that you are unable to perform the requisite number of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), according to your policy, for a period that is expected to last for at least 90 days or you have a severe cognitive impairment.
